NATIONAL CALF TRACKER: The largest calf string sold last week was 95 steers (473#) from Gainesville, Missouri at $219.50. The average price paid for the top 10 calf strings was $199.03, compared to $202.33 the previous week
NATIONAL STEER TRACKER: The largest steer string sold last week on the National Steer Tracker (700-899#) was 304 steers (852#) from El Reno, Oklahoma at $146.00. The average price for the top 10 steer strings (700-899#) sold last week was $155.02, compared to $160.26 last week. (VIEW REPORT)
CATTLE TRADE: Prices on a live basis primarily ranged from $138 to $141 while dressed prices were mainly $224 to $226. A year ago, prices were $119.71 live and $190.56 dressed (Griffith)
BEEF PRODUCTION: Weekly production reported at 535.8 million pounds, up 2.2% from last week, down 2.3% from last year (EWMP)
Weekly cattle slaughter reported at 661K head, compared to 647K last week and 666K last year. YTD slaughter at 21.4 million head, up 1.1% from last year (EWMP)
CATTLE WEIGHTS: Live weights reported this week at 1,343 lbs., unchanged from last week, down 16 lbs. from last year (EWMP)
MEAT PRODUCTION: The United States has produced 17.7 billion pounds of beef and 16.9 billion pounds of pork so far in 2022 (EWMP)
Weekly red meat production reported at 1.04 billion pounds, up 2.4% from last week, down 1.4% from last year (EWMP)
PORK PRODUCTION: Weekly production reported at 504.6 million pounds, up 2.7% from last week, down 0.5% from last year (EWMP)
Weekly hog slaughter reported at 2.395 million head, compared to 2.33 million last week and 2.4 million last year. YTD slaughter at 78.3 million head, down 3.5% from last year (EWMP)
